Motorola ZN300 press photos leaked, 3.5mm headset jack spotted

Motorola’s been a bit shy at MWC 2009, so it didn’t come with any new phones – its only attraction being the MotoSurf A3100. But that doesn’t mean the company hasn’t got new handsets which are impatiently waiting to be released, right?

And one of those handsets is the multimedia-centric Motorola ZN300 – or MotoZine ZN300 – a slider that we first saw back in January.

Its features include a 3MP camera, a rather unusual navigation pad, a 3.5mm headset jack (good move, Moto), Opera Mini, a QVGA display (bad move, Moto) and a Linux based OS – apparently.

The phone doesn’t look bad, that’s for sure. However, with so many options from so many other manufacturers, it will probably be hard for it to be a commercial success. Unless… Moto will sell it for a crazily attractive price. But I kind of doubt it

#MWC09: Motosurf A3100 video demo and some pics

I don’t really understand why on earth Motorola exhibits at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

This is the second year that I visit their stand and they don’t have a single interesting thing on display.

Just these plain old lame phones we are seeing again and again. And when I asked Motorola rep on the stand why don’t you have anything new here, he said: “Well, you know, we announced something at CES, so now, maybe, we’ll do something at CTIA…”

No wonder they are having troubles and losing marketshare and tons of money quarter after quarter.

The best they had on display in Barcelona was MOTOSURF A3100 phone - their version of a full touchscreen handset. And I can’t say anything good about it.

The interface is lame, touchscreen non responsive enough, and, compared to the things being announced here…, well, nothing to write home about…

Motorola QA4, VE66LX and QA1 for AT&T in official pics

Although they’re not officially announced by Moto, Motorola QA4, Motorola QA1 and Motorola VE66LX have just appeared in a set of high-quality, made-for-press images.

First of all, we should speak about the QA4, which is a full touchscreen slider with an alphanumeric keypad and a navigation pad à la Nokia.

The handset, also known as Motorola QA4 Halo, is said to come with features that include: a 2.8 inch TFT touchscreen display with 240 x 400 pixels, accelerometer and CDMA/EV-DO connectivity.

So it’s likely that Verizon Wireless (and maybe Sprint too) will release it in the US soon.

Motorola VE66LX (or Motorola VE66 Lux) is, of course, a Luxury Edition of the 5MP VE66 slider. Overall, it has a nice design, and if you’re into golden-looking handsets, the VE66LX is definitely for you:

Last but not least, we have the Motorola QA1, which is pictured with AT&T’s logo on it – a clear sing that the North American carrier will launch it sometime in the near future.

The QA1 features a full QWERTY keyboard and resembles the Hint QA30, although it has more rounded edges.

The prices and exact release dates of the three new Moto phones are yet to be announced.

Sprint announces the intrinsically safe Motorola i365IS

Motorola i365IS is the name of the newest push-to-talk handset announced by Sprint for its Nextel Direct Connect network.

Well, the phone itself is actually not that new, since it’s just an intrinsically safe (IS) version of Motorola i365, which is offered by Sprint since the fall of 2008.

Being intrinsically safe, the i365IS provides “a protection technique for safe operation of electronic equipment in explosive atmospheres, when used with IS battery and accessories.”

Other than that, the device looks similar to the i365 and it has the same features, including:

• Ultra-rugged design, meeting military specs for dust, humidity, blowing rain, vibration and shock
• 64K colors display with 130 x 130 pixels
• Second Line Service
• GPS navigation
• Bluetooth
• Speakerphone
• 5.3 x 2.1 x 1.2 inches
• 7.05 ounces
• Talk time: up to 300 minutes

Sprint doesn’t say how much the Motorola i365IS costs, and neither when it will be available for purchase (but this should happen pretty soon).

Motorola Stature i9 announced, Sprint and Boost will release it soon

Motorola i9, a handset that we’ve seen several times before, has finally gone official, under the full name of Motorola Stature i9.

Touted as the thinnest iDEN flip phone (15 mm), the i9 will be available via Boost Mobile by the end of February, with Sprint getting it shortly after that.

Boost Mobile will sell the Motorola Stature i9 for $299 free of contract, while Sprint’s 2-yr contract price is of $199.99.

The i9 is not only the thinnest iDEN handset, but it’s also among the ones which have the most advanced features. Here’s what the phone comes with:

• A 2.2 inch TFT internal display with 240 x 320 pixels
• A 2.0 inch TFT external display with 240 x 320 pixels
• External illuminated keys with ModeShift technology
• Built-in GPS
• Openwave 7.2 browser
• Next Mail
• Bluetooth 2.0
• Music player
• A 3.1 camera with autofocus and flash
• MicroSD card support, up to 8GB

Motorola Inferno to be released soon as Motorola Torch by Verizon?

Motorola Inferno is one of those Moto handsets that leaked at the end of last year with Verizon written all over them.

Now word on the street is that the Inferno will actually be called Motorola Torch. Even more, BGR says that Verizon will begin hardware trials with the Inferno / Torch as early as next month.

Of course, that doesn’t mean the handset will be released next month, but it’s a sign that it shouldn’t take long until this happens.

The new Inferno / Torch seems to be the successor of Moto Krave ZN4, thus it might also be referred to as Krave 2 or Blaze 2.

Unfortunately, there’s no info about the features the new flip phone has, but it’s said that what we can see in the above image doesn’t actually represents the real handset, as Moto has made some changes in its design.

Now we can only hope that we’ll be blown away when Verizon and Motorola decide to officially launch the device.

Motorola i465 mixes iDEN technology with a QWERTY keyboard

A Motorola phone with a QWERTY keyboard is certainly not something you’ve never seen before, but when that phone is also an iDEN one, well, then we’ve got something special.

And the new Motorola i465 is exactly that: an iDEN handset with a QWERTY keyboard.

There’s nothing official about the i465 for the moment, but an image with it has just been unveiled by Engadget.

The phone looks kind of weird, perhaps because a small display can’t look “normal” when paired with a QWERTY keyboard.

Regarding the features of Motorola i465, the only known ones are Bluetooth 2.0 and a 2001-like VGA photo camera. Release date and pricing details are obviously not known yet.
